Joyce Moorehead, J.D.
Joyce Moorehead, J.D., is an accomplished attorney, civic leader, and philanthropist with a distinguished career in law, education, and community service. A former member of the Miami-Dade County School Board, she has held senior legal roles with organizations including the NAACP, where she supported major civil rights litigation and advocacy related to employment, labor, voting rights, and education. Joyce later founded her own law practice specializing in employment, family, and labor issues, and co-established the Joyce and Thomas Moorehead Foundation, which provides scholarships and support to working families. She has also served as general counsel for national corporations and held leadership roles in public interest law firms across Florida, Arkansas, and Maryland.
Joyce has served on the boards of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation, the Family League of Baltimore, the Sexual Assault Recovery Center, Bethune-Cookman University, the Urban League of Greater Miami, WPBT-TV of South Florida, the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, and the Library of Congress. She has also been a member of the Maryland and Florida Bars, the Monumental City Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, the Maryland Court of Appeals Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure, the Citizens Planning and Housing Authority of Baltimore—where she served as chairman—and the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys, where she is a former president. Ruth Williams-Brinkley
Ruth Williams-Brinkley is a nationally respected executive and board director with more than four decades of leadership experience guiding complex organizations, driving large-scale transformation, and advising senior leaders across multiple industries. As Managing Director of RWB Advisory Services, she serves as a strategic business consultant and executive coach, supporting companies and executives in areas such as organizational growth, system integration, leadership development, and long-term planning. Ruth has held top leadership roles at major regional and national enterprises, where she oversaw multi-state operations, large workforces, enterprise strategy, and organization-wide performance—successfully leading integrations, strengthening governance, and guiding teams through periods of expansion and innovation.
Ruth serves on the boards of Travere Therapeutics, Natera, Inc., DePaul University, the University of Phoenix, and Allina Health, and has previously served on numerous national, state, and regional boards and committees. Her leadership has earned consistent national recognition, including being named one of the nation’s most admired CEOs and repeated honors among the Top 25 Women and Top 25 Minorities in executive leadership. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from DePaul University, as well as an honorary doctoral degree from Spaulding University. Ruth brings to Universally a long-standing commitment to strengthening organizations, developing leaders, and advancing communities.
Latoya Rivers
Latoya Rivers is an accomplished educator with expertise in gifted education, instructional enrichment, and elementary learning. She serves as a Gifted Resource Teacher in Norfolk Public Schools, where she supports advanced learners through differentiated instruction, curriculum development, and programs that foster creativity, critical thinking, and academic excellence. Latoya is recognized for her commitment to ensuring that all students—particularly high-ability learners—have access to engaging, challenging, and meaningful learning experiences.
In 2022, Latoya was named a Virginia Regional Outstanding Economic Educator by the Virginia Council on Economic Education, honoring her leadership in integrating financial literacy and economic concepts into elementary instruction. She holds a degree from Hampton University and is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Latoya brings to Universally a passion for student growth, family engagement, and creating learning environments where children feel seen, challenged, and inspired.
Salena Williams
Salena Williams, BSN, is a compassionate registered nurse with more than 20 years of experience caring for diverse patient populations across every stage of life—from newborns and expectant mothers to older adults and individuals managing acute illnesses and chronic conditions. Skilled across a wide range of specialties, including medical-surgical care, advanced cardiac care, neurology, rehabilitation, postpartum, labor and delivery, and neonatal care, she currently serves in the float pool at Missouri Baptist, where her adaptability and broad expertise make her a trusted resource for patients and colleagues alike. As Chair of the Unit Nursing Shared Governance Council, Salena helps shape care practices, strengthen teamwork, and support a collaborative, high-quality clinical environment.
Beyond her clinical work, Salena is deeply committed to serving her community. She is a youth leader at Church on the Rock in St. Peters, Missouri, co-leading recreational activities and facilitating small groups for children, adolescents, and teens. She volunteers with Unstoppable Men Help, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, and contributes to planning and outreach for a children’s publishing company dedicated to literacy and joyful learning. Known for her generosity, steady presence, and heart for service, Salena brings to Universally a passion for helping children, families, and communities thrive.
