Community-to-Classroom Connections brings authors, creators, and local community voices into schools and programs so students can see how stories, creativity, and everyday work connect with real life. Through reading sessions and interactive creative workshops, children gain more than literacy skills—they see people like them shaping ideas, using imagination, and contributing to their communities.
Each classroom visit is built around storytelling, hands-on creation, and reflection. Readers share not only their creative work but also how they got there—guiding conversations about perseverance, curiosity, and purpose.
How It Works

Collaboration and Planning. Your school or program reaches out; we co-design one or more sessions that fit your students’ interests and needs.

Select a format:

Single Reading / Workshop: A local author or community voice reads a story, leads a discussion, and engages students in a creative activity (during or after school).

Short Residency: A multi-day visit where the author or creative collaborator works with students across classes or sessions on writing, illustration, or storytelling projects.

Community voices in action: We bring everyday contributors—creative professionals, artisans, local experts—into classrooms to read, explain their craft, and answer questions about their journey.

Create and reflect: Students write, draw, produce mini-stories or projects, and share reflections about what they learned, how they connected, and what ideas they want to carry forward.
